The Waterways Journal's Inland Marine Expo recently recognized the industry’s rising stars with its 40 Under 40 Awards. Among those honored was Erik Cooper, Executive Director at Cooper Consolidated.
In 2007, Erik Cooper joined the Kinder Morgan team in Chalmette, Louisiana, as Terminal Manager. In this role, he oversaw operations of the dry bulk terminal inside of Exxon Mobil’s refinery and managed stevedoring, barge, vessel, truck, and railcar loading and discharging operations. After proving his ability to lead and consistently deliver safe and reliable operations, he was promoted to Operations Manager of the Kinder Morgan tank storage terminal in Harvey, Louisiana. He joined CGB Enterprises in 2011 as General Manager, overseeing stevedoring and marine business development, logistics, and operations management. In 2014 Erik was named Managing Director of Cooper Consolidated’s Northern Marine Operations, and in 2017 he was promoted to Executive Director. Erik is responsible for all cargo handling, marine, and commercial operations for Cooper Consolidated’s midstream and fleeting network. He is an active member of the American Waterway Operators, Greater New Orleans Barge and Fleeting Association, and the young maritime professionals association ADMIRALTY.
